Course Description
Hepatitis Case Studies - Hepatitis A

The Seattle STD/HIV Prevention Training Center and the University of Washington are pleased to present the Hepatitis Web Study, a free education service for health care workers who provide clinical care to persons with viral hepatitis. The service offers online, interactive, case-based modules dealing with the diagnosis and management of hepatitis A, B, C, and other hepatitis viruses. Each module includes case studies, discussion points, high-quality illustrations/graphics, references, and resource links. Free continuing education credit is provided.

To register for free CNE, go to the Hepatitis Web Study site, choose a module to complete, and then click on the CNE Credit link on the case study page.

Course Requirements
You may register for the entire course or for single modules.
To receive contact hour credit:

  1. View or listen to the lecture
  2. Study the handouts
  3. Submit a short post-test (exam)
  4. Submit an evaluation

After submitting the post-test and evaluation, you will be able to print a certificate online.

After completing this module, you will be better able to:
  1. Describe the typical clinical course for patients with acute hepatitis A.
  2. Discuss the laboratory criteria used to make a diagnosis of acute hepatitis A.
 
Postexposure Prophylaxis After Exposure to Hepatitis A Virus
  This module consists of a lecture, handouts, and short post-test.   Contact Hours/Completion Time: 0.5 hr
  Learning Objectives
After completing this module, you will be better able to:
  1. Describe the general approach to postexposure prophylaxis for hepatitis A.
  2. Identify groups that should receive immune globulin for postexposure prophylaxis.
 
Hepatitis A - Vaccination
  This module consists of objectives, handout, a short post-test, and evaluation.   Contact Hours/Completion Time: 0.5 hr
  Learning Objectives
After completing this module, you will be better able to:
  1. Explain the impact that hepatitis A vaccination has had in the United States.
  2. Summarize the indications for hepatitis A vaccination.
