Pediatric Drug Therapy - 2012

This online course is designed as a pharmacology update for nurse practitioners at the advanced practice level. Each module focuses on current recommendations and pharmacotherapeutic principles for pediatric health problems commonly seen in primary care.

Lectures were recorded in March 2012 at a conference in Seattle, Washington sponsored by the University of Washington School of Nursing. Teaching methods include lecture and downloadable handouts.

Course Objectives
After taking this course, you will be better able to:

  1. Describe relevant principles of physiology, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
  2. Give a rationale for selecting a drug of choice.
  3. Identify the goals of drug therapy.
  4. Identify desired drug effects and evaluate patient response.
  5. Describe special dosage situations.
  6. Identify appropriate patient learning needs.
