This conference is a forum for healthcare educators to share innovative and practical educational ideas for use in academic and clinical settings. Whether you are an experienced or novice educator, you will come away with strategies and solutions to expand and improve your professional practice. Join us and hear from a truly stellar lineup of talented, renowned, and diverse Nurse Leaders and Educators.  Program methods include lecture, discussion, case studies and interactive participation.

NEW VIRTUAL FORMAT

Due to ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 virus, this conference will be hosted as a virtual classroom via Canvas. Take the course remotely on a computer or mobile device and study at your own pace. The course will open on Sept 17 and you will have one year to complete the course. Registrants will receive further instructions. Thank you for your understanding during this significant public health situation. We look forward to seeing you online.

Target Audience

Educators, administrators, preceptors, staff development educators, clinical nurse specialists, nurse managers, staff nurses, and healthcare providers in all clinical and academic settings.

Objectives for Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this conference, participants will be better able to:

  2. Identify the importance of mentorship in nursing education.
  3. Describe innovative simulation strategies for today’s learner.
  4. Outline the components to create and plan a simulation using an Escape Room format; providing activities such as games or puzzles to enhance the learning experience.
  5. Formulate a personal resilience plan

Key Note Speaker

Sofia Aragon, JD, BSN, RN

Sofia earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Washington in 1994; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Seattle University in 1997; and her Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University-Chicago School of Law in 2002. She holds a Washington State Registered Nurse license and is a member of the Washington State Bar Association. Currently Sofia serves as executive director for the Washington Center for Nursing. Prior to joining WCN, Aragon was a senior governmental affairs advisor at the Washington State Nurses Association. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member at the Seattle University College of Nursing and as a legislative externship site supervisor at the Seattle University School of Law. Other experience includes working at the WA Department of Health Community and Family Health Division as the legislative and policy manager; as the contracts manager with DOH’s HIV Client Services; and direct-care nursing positions with Providence Medical Center and the Rainier Park Medical Clinic in Seattle. Aragon also serves as the chair of the Governor’s Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs; as president of the Washington chapter of the American Association of Nurse Attorneys; and is a member of Filipino Lawyers of Washington.
