Specialty Program 2017 | I.V. Therapy Skills Lab | March 17, 2017
This I.V. Therapy Skills Lab is a four-hour, in-person, simulated hands-on training session with an I.V. Therapy qualified instructor. Content includes a brief review of the I.V. Therapy Program online coursework, question and answer session, demonstrations and hands-on skills practice with a peripheral and central station. A lab kit will be provided as part of the registration fee. Enrollment is limited and preregistration is required.
Prerequisite: You must have completed all requirements of the I.V. Therapy Online Program before registering for this skills lab.
Registration fee: The skills lab registration fee is nonrefundable. One transfer is allowed.

Objectives for Learning Outcomes
After completing this skills lab, you will be better able to:
- Demonstrate the proper steps for insertion of a peripheral I.V. catheter.
- Implement safe I.V. push medication administration techniques.
- Demonstrate the correct procedural steps for a central venous catheter dressing change.
- State the rationale for discarding "waste blood" when drawing a blood sample from a central venous catheter.
