Specialty Program 2017 | I.V. Therapy Skills Lab | Sep 15, 2017
This I.V. Therapy Skills Lab is a four-hour, in-person, simulated hands-on training session with an I.V. Therapy qualified instructor. Content includes a brief review of the I.V. Therapy Program online coursework, question and answer session, demonstrations and hands-on skills practice with a peripheral and central station. A lab kit will be provided as part of the registration fee. Enrollment is limited and preregistration is required. Please note that Skills Labs are being phased out as of September 30, 2017.
Prerequisite: You must have completed all requirements of the I.V. Therapy Online Program before registering for this skills lab.
Registration fee: The skills lab registration fee is nonrefundable and nontransferable.

Objectives for Learning Outcomes
After completing this skills lab, you will be better able to:
- Demonstrate the proper steps for insertion of a peripheral I.V. catheter.
- Implement safe I.V. push medication administration techniques.
- Demonstrate the correct procedural steps for a central venous catheter dressing change.
- State the rationale for discarding "waste blood" when drawing a blood sample from a central venous catheter.
