Assignments may be completed at any time. However, the assignment, Clinical Example I is typically submitted after completion of approximately 40-50% of the course topics. The assignment, Clinical Example II is historically submitted toward the end of the course (after 80-90% of the course topics have been completed). 

The assignment, Design Your Own Clinical Question (PICO) is optional (but encouraged!), as is the third clinical example (Clinical Example III).

Objectives for Learning Outcomes

Clinical Example I, II & III

After completing this assignment, you will be able to:

  1. Describe a situation where this class helped you improve patient care and/or outcomes.
  2. Describe a situation when you used information from class to educate others (e.g., colleagues, students, family, friends). 
  3. Describe a situation when this class helped you improve standards of care in your work setting.
  4. Describe a Ah-Ha! moment when you realized something for the first time and connected knowledge gained from class to your practice.

Design Your Own Clinical Question (PICO)

After completing this assignment, you will be able to:

  1. Formulate a "well-built" clinical question that is comprised of four parts and identfies the patient problem or poulation (P), intervention (I), comparison (C) and outcome(s) (O).
