This lecture is a review of orthopedic injuries and disorders and their treatments, illuminated with patient stories pulled from the career of an experienced wound and orthopedic nurse.

Objectives for Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be better able to:

  1. Review assessment and treatments in caring for patients with musculoskeletal injuries.
  2. Understand treatments for common musculoskeletal disorders.
  3. Describe interventions associated with orthopedic complications. 
  4. Explain primary, secondary and tertiary preventative care for osteoporosis.
