Where can you take a certification exam?
The Academy of Medical Surgical Nurses (AMSN) offers the certification exam through their Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB). Nurses who successfully pass the AMSN exam are awarded the credential, CMSRN (certificated medical-surgical registered nurse). While the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) offers a board certification examination in medical-surgical nursing. Nurses who successfully pass the ANCC exam are awarded the credential, RN-BC (Registered Nurse-Board Certified).
