Substance Use Disorder Education for Healthcare Professionals
There is an unmet need for nurses who are trained to implement substance use disorder programs in primary care clinics, emergency rooms and jails. Despite the use of alcohol, tobacco, opioids and other substances, there is no mandatory training to address the abuse of these substances. Evidence shows that treatment by primary care teams can reduce risky substance use, morbidity and mortality.
