UW Continuing Nursing Education WMEP program.


Students will be responsible for non-course costs, such as professional liability insurance, health insurance, transportation, lodging, food, and other expenses. All students complete a criminal background check and upload pre-clinical documents via a credentialing service at a cost of approximately $80. Students are able to use the secure site as a personal repository for all your required healthcare documents. Information regarding other associated fees is provided below.


Students are responsible for arranging their own housing. Previous course participants have utilized local hotels (listing of local Hotel Accommodations) or other short term rental agencies. Student campus housing is not available for short term programs. 

Clinical Site Requirements

Clinical sites may have additional clearance requirements for student placement. Students are responsible for completing all required documentation meeting all placement requirements. Many clinical sites utilize a centralized clearance process that requires students to register at a cost of approximately $70. Placements are made to best meet the educational needs of each student and are not based on financial concerns.

Transportation and Travel

Clinical Preceptors are located throughout the greater Puget Sound area and can be up to 90 miles from the UW Campus (such as Anacortes, Bellingham, Olympia). Each student is responsible for arranging transportation to the clinical sites. Individual cars are recommended, however rental cars or public transportation may also be an option.

Computer Access

Students will need access to a computer with sound and streaming capability and be able to work with word processing and PDF documents. A DSL or cable connection is required. Test Your Computer Set-Up

Lab Coat

Students are required to wear a short white lab coat during the clinical experience. Some clinical sites prefer students wear scrubs.


Students are responsible for the purchase of the required textbook.
